India has strongly condemned the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu garment factory worker in Bangladesh, and has urged the Bangladeshi authorities to take strict action against those responsible for the attack.

The incident took place on December 18 in Bhaluka, Mymensingh district, where Dipu Das was allegedly attacked by a mob following unverified accusations of blasphemy. Reports state that he was lynched, after which his body was tied to a tree and set on fire, triggering widespread outrage.

MEA Condemns Violence, Rejects “Misleading Propaganda”

Responding to the incident, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed deep concern over the killing and emphasized that violence against minorities is unacceptable. India urged Bangladesh to ensure that all perpetrators are identified and brought to justice.

The MEA also dismissed certain reports and claims circulating on social media and in sections of the media, calling them “misleading propaganda.” It clarified that there was no breach or violent incident at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, countering allegations suggesting otherwise.

Arrests Made, Investigation Ongoing

Bangladeshi authorities have confirmed that multiple arrests have been made in connection with the killing. Law enforcement agencies stated that investigations are underway and that no evidence has been found so far to support the blasphemy allegations that allegedly triggered the mob violence.

Officials in Bangladesh have condemned the incident and assured that the rule of law will prevail.

Protests and Public Outrage

The killing of Dipu Das has sparked protests in parts of India and Bangladesh, with demonstrators demanding justice and stronger protection for minority communities. Several civil society groups have expressed concern over the growing instances of mob violence and misinformation-driven attacks.

India Calls for Protection of Minorities

India reiterated its expectation that Bangladesh will uphold its constitutional commitment to protect all religious minorities and maintain law and order. The MEA stated that India will continue to closely monitor developments related to the case.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the dangers of mob justice and the urgent need for effective action against hate-driven violence.
